Hey y’all. It’s been a stressful week here in Slothville, and maybe it has been for you as well. So I am proposing a poetry break.
Today in poetry-land I present for you “Musee Des Beaux Arts” by W.H. Auden in 1938. It is a lovely poem about a painting of the fall of Icarus, but it is mostly about all of the people who were going on with their daily lives while he was falling out of the sky and didn’t really care that this incredible, amazing, tragic thing had just happened because, you know, they were busy. I encourage you to check it out.
